Pick-Pocket?

Tre’, my 3 ½ year old Rotty has been a pick-pocket since he was tall enough to reach into your hand.  He would nonchalantly put his nose in your hand and nuzzle you for loves and rubs to distract you, then he would nuzzle your leg, and before you know it, he would be in your pocket, slowly, ever so slowly, and then he would be out and the next thing you would notice is Tre’ slowly leaving the room.

Then you turn to look at each other and ask, “Uh Oh, what does he have?”  Because at that moment you know you have just been pick-pocketed by your dog.  Or worse, I will have a guest over, and Tre will pick-pocket them, they will not know it, and I will have to tell them.  How embarrassing is that!

Well, it happened in reverse today.  I was pick-pocketed by a client!  She just could not wait any longer for her treat and she knew it was just sitting in my pocket, waiting for her to take it.  So, she did.  She took it.    And just like my dog Tre, gently and slowly, she reached in so you hardly knew it was happening.  Until she dropped it on the floor, that is. She still got her regular treat too when I left, impatient girl!
